Katherine D. Perry is a professor, poet, and person. She teaches for a two-year college, Perimeter College, in Atlanta, Georgia, and she lives in Decatur with her husband, two children, and dog. She earned her Ph.D. from Auburn University in English, and her dissertation, Gender on Paper, explored the performance of gender by American women poets across different time periods and subject areas. While she holds a traditional Ph.D., most of her writing is poetry.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, Katherine is a lover of water and nature. She loves camping and forest bathing, and leads a Girl Scout troop to help pass on the love of nature and empowerment to girls who live in the city. She is a feminist, and her academic work, poetry, and life choices reflect that stance.
"Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought."
~Matsuo Basho, 17th Century Japanese Poet
